Give Referring Physicians Access to Images Over the Internet

The MiPACS Web Viewer provides access to medical images inside and outside of the office. Rather than sending films, printouts of digital studies, or a CD to a referring physician, make digital images securely available online—immediately. With complete control patient record access, referring physicians can only access his/her patients' records.

The MiPACS Web Viewer includes all of the tools expected in a medical image viewer—window and level controls, zoom, magnify, rotate, invert, ROI calculations (mean, median, STDV), cine controls, annotations, measurements, and more—all from within a web browser. Series can be compared side by side, and viewed in a user-definable X by Y series view or in Stack mode.

Multi-Clinic Capability

MiPACS can be used in a single clinic or used to centralize an entire network of imaging centers and clinics. The MiPACS Storage Server provides several add-ons that make the imaging workflow easier in a multi-clinic environment.

The MiPACS Router automates routing of imaging studies to servers at any other clinics—even directly to an on-call radiologist's workstation. The rules that dictate how images are routed to their destination(s) are completely customizable and can be based on any DICOM tag data.

The MiPACS Image Forwarding add-on to MiPACS Storage Server synchronizes multiple clinics to a central imaging archive. Mini MiPACS servers at each clinic provide a local cache of images, while older images and images captured at other clinics are available through the link to the MiPACS central imaging archive.

The MiPACS Gateway add-on to the MiPACS Storage Server relays DICOM query/retrieve requests to any number of other PACS servers. It enables users to search for a patient's record once and receive results from servers at multiple locations.

  • Data format - All data is stored on a file system location in DICOM format. Proprietary formats are never used.
  • DICOM Objects - Support for all storage SOP classes defined in the DICOM 2008 updated standard.
  • DICOM tags - The MiPACS Storage Server is a Type 2 Server, meaning it will store all private tags created by other applications as-is to maintain the integrity of the data.
  • DICOM Media - Data can be directly imported from DICOM removable media. Images can also be exported directly from the server to DICOM removable media.
  • Compression - Support for lossy and lossless JPEG and JPEG 2000 images, as well as support for uncompressed images. The MiPACS Storage Server automatically converts the compression type if the retrieving modality does not support the stored compression type.
  • Access Control - The MiPACS Storage Server can be set to verify AE Titles, IP Addresses, and/or hostnames for connecting clients. Permission to query/retrieve, store, overwrite, and delete are granted per AE Title.
  • Encryption - Communication with DICOM clients and other servers can use 128-bit encryption as defined by the DICOM protocol.
  • DICOM Services - Query/Retrieve (relational and non-relational), Storage, and Storage Commitment as Service Class Provider.
